I was in MINI of San Francisco today, checking out the BMW Motorad stuff on the 2nd floor, and there parked in the dealership was ‘COOP’, an AstroBlack metallic 2007 Cooper S, with the $1,600 “Hammer and Coop package”. Lot of nice little accents, and a few bigger ones. I don’t know if it talks, but the white lightning stripes and side wrap must add at least another 100 horsepower

Munich. Current models of the BMW Group achieved an outstanding result in the current ADAC Statistics on Roadside Assistance with two models being named as best in class and four models ranked among the top three in their segments. This most extensive and conclusive nationwide analysis of the reliability of all cars on offer in Germany impressively confirms high quality and reliability of cars of the BMW and MINI brands. Moreover, the uniform picture as shown in all classifications provides clear evidence that the high quality standards of the BMW Group are made to work across all model lines.
At the MINI Press Conference, 4/20/2007, Auto Shanghai. Dr. Kay Segler gave a speech with some inside information on MINI’s amazing successes in China. What follows is a transcript of that speech.

Ladies and Gentlemen, It’s great to see you here at the Shanghai Motor Show 2007 in Shanghai. I am delighted to present the new MINI to you today, and this extraordinary metropolis is the perfect setting for your first drive. Because Shanghai combines – in a very exciting way – tradition with trends, growth, dynamics and modern spirit – so it is clearly an environment which perfectly matches the MINI!
With MINI, we can look back at a real success story: Since its re-launch in 2001, we have sold a total of about 944,000 MINI worldwide. China has been contributing to this success with substantial growth rates for example: retail volume in Mainland China increased by 145% last year. A new record in 2007 is surely in sight. Year to date the Mainland China volume has already doubled. One interesting fact: in Hong Kong, MINI has reached a market share of 2.5% – its highest market share worldwide.

In 2007 the MINI CHALLENGE will be held on no less than eight racing weekends with a total of 15 races for the title. And even the very first race is a genuine highlight, with 38 MINI Cooper S battling it out at Hockenheimring on the occasion of the DTM German Touring Car Masters. Then the teams will also be enjoying a spectacular backdrop at two races held on the occasion of major Formula 1 events, the German Grand Prix at Nürburgring and the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps, where the MINI Cooper S is bound to thrill a large crowd of enthusiasts.
