Whitby. MINI Canada is pleased to announce today that a distinctive new model, the MINI Clubman, will join the MINI lineup in the first quarter of 2008.
The MINI Clubman is poised to expand the MINI brand family with the introduction of two versions of a completely unique configuration based on the legendary “shooting brake” classics, the Morris Mini Traveller, the Austin Mini Countryman, and the Mini Clubman Estate which rounded out the model family of the original Mini, the grandfather of all compact cars, back in the 1960s.
The MINI Cooper S Clubman will be equipped with the new MINI four-cylinder gasoline engine with twin-scroll turbocharger and direct fuel injection, introduced in February of 2007 in the new MINI Cooper S. With a capacity of 1598 cc, maximum output of 172 horsepower at 5500 rpm, and maximum torque of 177 lb-ft at 1600 – 5000 rpm, the MINI Cooper S Clubman inherits performance characteristics fully in keeping with its “S†badge.
The MINI Cooper Clubman will be powered by the new MINI four-cylinder gasoline engine with fully variable valve management based on the BMW Group’s VALVETRONIC technology, which also debuted in February of 2007 in the new MINI Cooper. The MINI Cooper Clubman, with a capacity of 1598 cc, will have a maximum output of 118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 114 lb-ft at 4,250 rpm.
This summer, Fireballed! Racing and the 2007 MINI will be competing on the hit TV Show “STREET TUNER CHALLENGE†(STC) on SPEED CHANNEL (Fox) airing this October. And there’s fantastic opportunity for all Auto Enthusiast to get involved! You can have YOUR PHOTO or YOUR COMPANY LOGO on a piece of MINI RACING HISTORY! LITERALLY!!
Filming has already begun on the “MINI USA FIREBALLED PURSUIT CAR†and there will be a “DESIGN PHOTO-BAND†incorporated as part of the car, designed by Fireball Tim and encompassing all those that support the efforts of the FIREBALLED! TEAM RACERS and its mission of “Keeping Racing on The Trackâ„¢â€
Not the beer, the car.. right, THAT amazing car! It was on the market for a limited time, and although not an original car, it’s a re-shell, and WOO HOO nice! A total of the receipts since the day I bought it came to almost $15,000, but I let it go for an undisclosed amount a bit less than that
So to Rob C., aka “Fayt” (or is that Fayt’s M8?) , I say ENJOY! Hope that she gives you as much joy as she did for me, and I can’t wait to see what you and the fine folks (e.g., Mike at Seven Enterprises) will do next
So, what next, you may ask.. Well, I am going to use the cash from the sale of “Guinness” to pay off “Mindi”, then get a new car (or two..) What’s in the future for StarLord? A classic Mini? A MINI Cabrio or smart ForTwo? Very likely. We’ll see what happens.
About Mindi — those who have been following my podcasts know, “Mindi” is my 2003 MINI Cooper S with just over 50k miles and a special 100k/7-year warranty on it. That’s like, half way broken in! Gosh! a few years to do 50k miles, you think you can help me do it?
We are starting some plans to have a summer MINI/Mini Event in San Francisco next summer (2008). This would include a midnight MINI/Mini run through the streets of SF. Lombard Street (the crookedest street in the world), a visit to Chinatown, Coit Tower, Twin Peaks, Golden Gate Bridge, Treasure Island, Ocean Beach, Fisherman’s Warf, Angel Island, a Giants baseball game at AT&T Park, and lots of other KOOL things. This would be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event.
We are starting the planning early. Let me know if you think this idea will fly.
I’ll keep everyone posted. BUT let me know. email: norm@redwoodempiremini.com
From Norm Nelson at Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts:
The Mini Invasion of AT&T Park gathered together at Larkspur Landing in Marin at 10:30AM on Saturday morning as members of REME (Redwood Empire MINI Enthusiasts) drove from as far away as Redding, Woodside, Salinas, Carson City NV, and Sacramento. Although many of us had decided to make our assault by sea, taking the Golden Gate Ferry across San Francisco Bay, we did have some coming by Mini, bus, train, and BART.
Date: 7/22/2007
Time: Arrive at the starting point @ 9:30am, we leave @ 10:00am
Where: Woodside, near the CA-84 / I-280 junction. See below.
What: The Seventh Annual Banzai Beach Blanket Bash.
NEED WE SAY MORE? OK, FOR THOSE THAT DON’T KNOW, HERE’S THE DETAILS
[as posted on MOASF from Hypersprite]
This run included some of the hottest Mini-friendly roads in the bay area mountains and one of the most authentic British pubs around complete with double decker bus. The roads like Skyline Drive, Highway Nine, La Honda, and many others are calling us back and I don’t know how any twisty-minded Mini owner could resist!
We are meeting at 9:30 am in the parking lot in the rear of the Pioneer Hotel and Saloon very close to the “Park N Ride†just west of the 280 at 2925 Woodside Rd. Woodside, CA 94062
Watch your speed through Woodside because it is heavily watched by the local peace officers and bikes and pedestrians abound. There is a gas station directly across from the Hotel if you need a fill up before we get underway.
We will be departing on this fabulous driving adventure at 10:00 am sharp to get to the coast at a proper time for lunch.
We wont need to bring a picnic lunch, we will arrive on the coast and proceed to Cameron’s Inn & Pub near Half Moon Bay for lunch where you can indulge in a taste of Guinness or Stout (or any other English concoction). We get a great turn out every year, don’t miss it!
RSVP, ask questions or chit chat here..

If interested, please send me a comment to this posting or message from the contact page, with the quantity and sizes you would like.
Cost varies on the size of the shirt, $10 for most, $15 for larger sizes. Extra $ given to us will be used to pay our webhosting fees.
We can either ship them to you (at cost) or have you pick them up on a run. West Coast people can get them from myself or Rob ‘Califzeph’, and East Coast folks can get them from Rich ‘Romeo Mike’ — please give us some advance notice in case we don’t have your size on hand!
We’re considering doing another run of shirts and hoodies, perhaps white or some other color, as interest persists.. comments, suggestions anyone? One idea I had was to swap the artwork, so the front ‘checkerboard’ is the back and the back ‘text’ appears on the front.. what do YOU think? Let us know!
Califzeph (r.saunders) just sent us some b-roll from this year’s Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts run to Mt. Shasta! There’s no narration, but the video certainly speaks for itself — Lots of fun out-takes in this one with the REME crew. Norm celebrates his 29th birthday, people dancing, a visit to Norm’s super garage (as featured on motortopia.com), and more..
Then, we have little slideshow of photos taken by Romeo Mike (r.mcgowen) from the 10th Anniversary Britain on the Green car show, which took place April 29th.
