YWCA fund-raiser (MINI Club of Calgary)

From our friends up in the cold North of Calgary, Alberta (Canada)..

“Hello Everyone, This year the MINI Club of Calgary, is trying to show that we may drive small cars, however we have large hearts.

In an endeavor to give back to the community four members of the club are participating in the YWCA’s “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes”, whereby the funds raised will benefit the Sheriff King Home (The emergency shelter for women and children who are fleeing from domestic violence).

The event takes place on Monday Sept. 21 at noon at Olympic Plaza, and our team is called “MINI Guys, Taking MINI Steps”. As the event is to raise funds it is also to generate awareness of this serious issue, and therefore the all male teams will be doing the walk in “High Heels”.

We would truly appreciate your financial support in the way of a donation to our team, as the top five teams will be specially recognized at the event. We are currently in sixth position.

Then click on “Calgary” at the bottom left corner, you will be directed to the home page where there is a tab callled “Walkers” under this heading is a sub heading “Support a Walker”, enter “MINI Guys, Taking MINI Steps” and this will direct you to our team website. From here you can choose one of the four names and place your donation. A tax receipt will be issued to all donations over $20.

PSMINI’s Rootbeer Drive-In

The Puget Sound MINI Motoring Club has been invited to hold the first Mini Cooper Car Show at XXX Root Beer Drive-In in Issaquah (“the last historical XXX Root Beer Drive-in in the US”).

We hope that you’ll join us! It’s a fun place to meet and show our MINIs and have some great food. There will be music, vendors, raffle prizes, and great weather (that one is trickier to promise, but we’re working on it…). We’re also planning a drive afterwards and will incorporate one of our favorite little one way roads that has always been a part of the route to XXX in the past. You can’t miss this! Come on down (or up or over)!

What: 1ST Annual XXX MINI Cooper Car Show

When: Sunday, September 27, 2009

Registration from 8-9:30am.
Car Show 10am-2pm with Awards following.
Fun drive to follow from Issaquah location for all interested.

ABF Road Tour: Fun Ride and Drive

When Rob Saunders tweeted that Miniology.com and MC2 needed someone to cover the ABF Road Performance Tour last weekend, I jumped at the chance. Now I’m not really a gear head or a racing enthusiast. I’m just your ordinary Mini owner who likes the occasional twisties and takes pride in the fact that my car can elicit smiles from young and old onlookers alike. My husband, on the other hand, loves the tracks and has been dropping hints (read: nagging me) about taking our Mini out on a race track and doing some laps. So I figured the tour was a good opportunity for him to drive high performance Minis and get some time on the track all in one day. How awesome is that!

Miniology To Cover ABF Performance Tour ’09 Exclusively!

The 2009 – 2010 ABF Performance Road Tour, presented by MINI USA and Yokohama Tire Corporation, features two-day events at major metropolitan cities around the United States. The ten city nationwide tour provides the participants with the opportunity to experience the handling, performance, and lifestyle that is MINI.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE

Attendees will be treated to the use of Auto-Cross type courses at each event. Ride along with professional drivers as they demonstrate the MINI’s handling prowess. Then take the driver’s seat and experience first-hand what makes MINI owners so dedicated to the marque

Customer satisfaction and VIP treatment are our first priority. Our professional staff of MINI Specialists are recognized and well respected by the MINI community and bring a high level of energy and fun to the events.

DYNO DAY….. Mini-Obsession VS mini chaos

Saturday 3rd October 2009 8.30am for signing in (start 9am) Sleaford mini centre, Lincolnshire UK
PRICE
£30 per car (inc driver and 1 passenger, extra passengers £2.50 each to cover catering) Under 12′s Free. Price will include ALL refreshments and light snacks availiable right throughout the day & mega lunchtime BBQ. (burgers, hotdogs, chicken, kebabs, ribs) (vegitarians please inform us)
All participants will recieve a certificate with their results and a powertest printout from the tuner.
All money must be in by Mid September for final numbers.

FORMAT
Limited to 30 cars. Classic minis and derivatives (eg, hornet, elf,scamp,moke) will get priority on places. Any places left will be offered to Modern Mini drivers however these would not be featured in the magazine.
Guaranteed 3 dyno runs, printout and time to tweak engine/change airfilter etc between runs if required.
TROPHIES & CLASSES
This year 4 trophies will be awarded to the best performing engines not the best BHP.
The tuner will decide which engines have the best performance during each run taking into account bhp figures and mark the car out of possible 100 points.
Trophies and winners certificates will go to the cars which score highest making all of the much smaller bhp cars in with a much better chance of that coverted trophy!
There will be 3 A series categories.
small bore up 1098, big bore up to 1275, super bore up to 1400 +
and a further category for Non A series engines.
OTHER TROPHIES (inc certificate)
Show & shine competition, best engine bay, best interior, Engine of the Day (tuners choice), best fancy dressed driver will recieve a £20 minispares voucher and trophy. (as mentioned above)

NOT RUNNING A MINI ON THE ROLLERS?????
You would still like to attend? No problem. Just forward a cheque for £2.50pp or paypal for £3.00pp and you may come along and enjoy the day and still be fed and watered. If you are bringing a mini, you may also enter all the other mini competitions if you wish. Prebooking is preffered on this as we need to know final numbers for catering.
