Magical Mystery Mini Tour Update!

From Jerry “Smokey The Hippie” Del Castello:

Well here I am again, your roving reporter on Haight St. Something keeps drawing me back. While I was walking around my old stomping grounds looking for a few Pubs to visit for MMMT, I stumbled upon a cool costume store. It is called Costumes on Haight…..wow what a catchy name….Anyhow, they have some pretty farout stuff to wear…I think I saw some of my old clothes hanging up for rent or sale. Man, I wished I had kept that old stuff…..Dang, who knew…Anyroad, check it out if you are in town…….Later…..

From Norm:

Just a reminder that registration is open for the Magical Mystery Mini Tour. If you have not registered and paid, please do so now.

Also if you will need a hotel room please be sure to do that, the hotel packages expire on July 5, 2008 so get the done while you can.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Julian Evans “Consul General” of the British Consulate Office will be the Grand Marshall of the Magical Mystery Mini Tour. He and his staff Robin Newmann, Vice Consul, and Lesley Hughlett, Political, Press and Public Affairs are working hard to assist us. They have made contact with the San Francisco Mayors office and they are assisting as well. We are getting support and co-operation from the CHP, Golden Gate Bridge District, Cal Trans, and the National Parks.

Just wanted to let know there is plenty going on behind the scenes. This is shaping up to be one hella Mini party.

We are getting in registration forms and payments from people all over North America and parts of Europe and Asia. For those of you planning on attending but have not yet made hotel reservations, I encourage you to do it soon.
The arrangements we made with two hotels (one in San Francisco on Fisherman’s Wharf and the other in the East Bay area) will expire on July 5th. That doesn’t mean if you don’t make reservations by then that there will be no available hotel rooms, it just means that you may not get them at the same location for the same “discounted” price and you may have to do a little additional homework finding accommodations. Please bear in mind though, that as we approach September, rooms in San Francisco will become increasingly difficult to find, especially if you plan to arrive early, since this is the weekend following Labor Day.

Because this is not a hotel based event, you can stay pretty much anywhere you want in the area so long as you are within short driving distance to San Francisco. I recommend staying within San Francisco borders because of the availability of bus transportation on and off the island about every 20 minutes… you can leave your car parked there all night to avoid costly hotel parking.

As you know, we will be having a Beatles Tribute band playing Saturday night until about 10pm, with the San Francisco skyline as the backdrop for the band. We are working on getting another band for Friday Night if registrations continue to roll in (we have to justify added expenses)… not any specific genre, but just good music playing as registrants continue to roll in… kind of a pre-party before the bash. We will post details as/if they develop.

From Dan “Skurfer” Breakey:
I am working on the shuttle service for the group staying at the Hilton Garden @ Baybridge through the MMMT group so that we MAY be able to at least have one morning and one evening ride to and from the island. Hilton says that if they do provide the shuttle you will get a voucher with your group booked room at check-in. They are not sure if our group is going to be big enough to provide this service though. (not many reservations for the MMMT Group booking) The good thing is that there is FREE PARKING at the hotel which you will not find at most other Hotels and Inns.

Can’t wait for September to get here!

By the way, should we get some type of confirmation of event registration emailed or sent soon after we pay. I paid by PayPal and just wanted to make sure it is in good standing.
